About Ashima Group

Ashima Group is comprised of three component companies. The three companies share a common location in Pasadena, California and also share some personnel.  However, the goals of each company are different and as a result, the three companies are legally separate.

Ashima Research is a scientific and technical research organization.  With a focus on planetary and climate science, numerical methods, and instrumentation, Ashima Research is funded via competitive grants from NASA and other federal organizations and commercial research contracts.  Ashima Research is currently involved in developing state-of-the-art numerical models employing massively parallel computing, in the analysis of archived spacecraft data, and actively participates in science activities with ongoing spacecraft missions (such as the Mars Odyssey Orbiter and the Mars Science Laboratory rover).  The founding personnel of Ashima Research formerly comprised a research group at the California Institute of Technology.  Ashima Research is organized as a California corporation and operated on a purely cost reimbursement basis.

Ashima Devices is a start-up tech company focused on reconnaissance and image reconstruction devices and software.  Ashima Devices builds upon experience in spacecraft instrument design for NASA.  Ashima Devices is currently working on micro-UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and 3D image reconstruction technology for a variety of applications.  Ashima Devices is organized as a Delaware corporation with a goal of commercializing small scale and affordable reconnaissance systems.
